Commissions on hold

No longer accepting new commissions.  To those who still have outstanding commissions, unless I've communicated with you directly indicating otherwise, they will be completed by the agreed upon time.

Writing Commissions

Now that my hardboiled detective novel is nearly done and will be working on shopping it around for publishers, I figure it's a good a time as any to start taking writing commissions again.  If you're interested, shoot me off an email at sjreid82@gmail.com.  I'll be doing dollar-a-page commissions, (average of 400 to 500 words per page), and will do up to 50 pages per commission.

Repatriation - a Star Wars tale

This is both a short story and the introduction of a novel I've completed that I'm actually quite proud of.  I was hoping to get this short published in Star Wars Insider, and I may yet if they ever get around to responding to my letter of inquiry.  Though I suppose it kind of defeats the purpose of posting a potentially commercial work for free, I figured posting it might actually get it some attention from the wrong right people.

Depending on what the response is I might be forced to take this down.  Since this is a work intended for commercial publication, I don't consider it fan fiction. I realize this statement is potentially self-incriminating due to the licensed nature of the work, however until such a time when I'm ordered to remove it, I'll put it up for the public's viewing pleasure.

Takers! Part 1 revised

Part 1 of Takers! has gone through the editing wash and is looking a little cleaner than before.  Other parts will be edited.  Part 4 is in the works, so stay tuned for that.

Takers part 2

Here's the second part of the short story series I was working on last year.  All of these are in dire need of editing, so please forgive the occasional grievous assaults on the English language and punctuation that may occur from time to time.

Silhouette (full E-novel)

This is the first full length novel I've ever written.  Originally I'd planned on selling this one (and I may yet) but for now I'm going to add it for free while it's in a fairly unedited state.

I developed the initial idea for this story back in 2011.  I'd wanted to do a techno-thriller for some time but was struggling with ideas.  I eventually settled on the idea of creating a story around a corporation who utilized brainwashed employees to conduct corporate espionage and assassinations.

I'm a big fan of the grossly underutilized and still often maligned female protagonist role.  This story is very much an acknowledgement of that.  As a writer, I tend to prefer female leads simply because they are far more interesting to write about.  Male leads far too often fall into stereotypes and cliches, and there is always the risk of 'over masculating' characters, to the point of alienating an audience.  By their nature, women tend to make more interesting characters since it is a lot easier writing about a woman's emotional responses since they are generally very overt, versus male emotional responses which, by OUR nature, are often very covert.
